Head to Inspire provides Confidence Coaching and Leadership Workshops for Girls.
Research shows that somewhere between the ages of 11 and 17, girls’ sconfidence and self - esteem shatters. To the point that from the age of 17 and beyond many girls when asked what they would like to be, don’t even mention the desire to be a president- of a company or a country.
Why is this?
What happens to our girls during those crucial years that most of them lose all hope to become leaders and have larger influence in the economic, the political and the scientific arena?
Below are some facts that inspire us to do all that we can to raise the confidence of girls and encourage them to unleash the leadership potential within them:
. As of 2014, 51% of the population in the UK is female. Yet 77% of the parliament is male!
. In 2014, out of 196 countries in the world only 22 of them have a female president.
. An extract from Women on Boards 2011 Report informs:
“In 2010 women made up only 12.5% of the members of the corporate boards of FTSE 100 companies. This was up from 9.4% in 2004. But the rate of increase is too slow. The business case for increasing the number of women on corporate boards is clear. Women are successful at university and in their early careers, but attrition rates increase as they progress through an organisation. When women are so under-represented on corporate boards, companies are missing out, as they are unable to draw from the widest possible range of talent.”
And this is despite the data compiled by the University of New Brunswick in Canada:
. Girls have been outperforming boys throughout their academic careers, from infant school to secondary school for at least 100 years.
. Girls do better at all ages, in all subjects and all over the world.
(review of 308 studies involving more than 1.1 million boys and girls who were students from 1914 to 2011)
We think when women are so under-represented, not only companies lose out but societies, countries and the world loses out!
So contact us if you are as passionate as us to raise the confidence and leadership of girls and for equality.
